Notes 11/29/16

theme-the subject of a talk, a piece of writing, a person's thoughts, or an exhibition; a topic.
Tone-a musical or vocal sound with reference to its pitch, quality, and strength.
Mood-a temporary state of mind or feeling.
Devices-a thing made or adapted for a particular purpose, especially a piece of mechanical or electronic equipment.

My first impression after hearing to "immigrants in our land" was that I like how it's really realistic and true, it kind of relates a little to my life.

My mad dream of an essay

Many choices in our life now have a huge impact in what our future will look like. Same people think it's okay to do whatever they like just because they are young and they are still learning form their mistakes. But one big mistake and can cause a bad or good change in your whole life. And most teenagers don't understand that so most of them don't end up so good in life.
All my life my parents have always told my brothers and I to stay in school and try hard and never give up on our goals. They always tell us to make good decisions and stay focused in school. All my family is like that and says the same thing to their kids. But one day my cousin didn't really make a good decision and she disappointed everyone in the family by not focusing well in the important things such as school. That bad decision changed her life forever and now she has to do double the work to raise her child. Some decisions come unexpectedly and surprisingly but everything comes with consequences.
Another example on how our choices now can influence the future would be on "a sound of thunder". It all began when Eckel went off the and stepped on a butterfly,  this caused the presidential election . This really changed the future due to the election and it even led to Eckels death.
On self reliance by Emerson , Emerson doesn't really talk about anything that actually changed his future. But Emerson does say to do what makes you happy and to follow your goals or your dreams. And this really can change your future in a good way if you enjoy your life and follow any dreams you have like he tells you. He also says to always be yourself and this does influence your future a lot because not being who you truly are and cause you to do things that you wouldn't do if you were just being yourself.
In conclusion, everything we do have a big impact on our future starting from the small easy things like eating. We should make sure that our choices can bring us some success in the future. Also we should all just avoid everything bad starting from bad influential friends and bad decisions because you can mess up your life hanging out with people who have no goals or ambitions.

Emersons child

  1. The way that Emerson would view the presidential election is that he wouldn't really care at all. I think he would suggest us to just move on with our lives and to not let it bother us.
  2. Emerson would suggest us to follow our goals in order to learn somewhere or get somewhere. Doesn't matter where or how you learn it. I think that Emerson would tell us to just go for what you think is right to let the school tell you that you can't.
  3. I think that when Emerson says "yourself" he trying to say to be you, to be who you truly are.  Many people act different with certain people because they worry about what those people might think of them.
  4. The way I would express emersons main idea to a 10 year is just by telling them to be who they truly are. And to not let anyone or society change them who they are. And also to follow their dreams so matter how much people hate.

An earth shattering fart

I read most of the story and it was really interesting and kind of confusing.

Presentation notes

-"nothing can burn your peace but yourself"
- Just cause a person is young , it doesn't mean they're not capable to do anything.

Emerson said it

  • to believe in your own thought, to believe  that what is true for you in your private heart is true"
- don't be afraid to speak up because of  what others may think of you everyone is special in they own way

  • "The secret of fortune is joy in our hands"
- of you love what you do keep doing it don't let anyone stop you, only you can make yourself happy
  • "Nothing can burn your peace but yourself"
- when you see someone that didn't something the wrong way but were rewarded and you have done something the right way and you didn't get rewarded then you don't feel good because it's not fair, if you do something and feel proud of it you know you have done it right
  • "Speak your latent conviction, and it shall be the universal sense; for the inmost in due time becomes the outmost, and our first thought is rendered back to us by the trumpets of the Last judgment"
- your first thought or first instinct is always important
  • "Just as a man who stands on his feet is stronger than a man who stands on his head"
- people that stand on their feets can be independent and see the world for what it really is they are more realistic

Today I'm a good human

Today I'm a good human because I'm catching up on every missing assignment I have for this class and my other classes. I'm also getting my shit together by getting more organized, catching up, trying harder, studying, getting involve, looking for a job, and joining sports.

Letter to a mentor draft 1

Dear mentor,
Why do I not know what I'm chasing yet? Like why do I not know what I want to be when I grow up? I have tried everything to figure out what I would like my career to be but some how nothing interests me. Everything seems boring and uninteresting. Even though I have thought of being a nurse because I heard they pay good.

My American voice

I speak up when I think that it's not fair on somethings or when I'm not getting my way. I'm going to be honest I love getting my way who doesn't? But I usually speak the truth in everything espcially when someone is not being fair with me. I speak up and diss anyone who thinks I'm wrong.

inciting incident

My first impression of the inciting incident is when the police came up Leonardo mead.

Respect my authority

Usually in public or at school I'm a really quiet person because I don't like the people around me or just because I'm bored and not want to be there. But when I am with my friends or family or somewhere I really enjoy, I am a loud, weird, funny person who cant stop talking. A lot of people tell m I'm really funny to be around with once you really get to know me. But yeah, usually in public I'm really quiet and just to myself.

Theme of my litature analysis book

I am reading The catcher and the rye. And so far I have noticed a very deep theme which is loneliness. Holden's behavior indicates his loneliness he doesn't really know why he behaves this way. He often sabotages his own attempts to end his loneliness. For example his conversation with Carl and Luce and his date with Sally are made unbearable by his rude behavior. He is a really individual person who has a source of his security.

Team vocabulary

The presidential debate was aggravating the American people. Donald Trumps supporters are hypnotized by the things he says. He also accused Hilary for being a liar and he would put her in jail if he becomes president. His ideas will transform America to chaos. I think Donald Trump should be suspended from from the debate for not acting professional. The future with trump will be melancholy for the citizens. Meanwhile others are anticipating Hillary Clinton plans will be good for the country.

Big Question Disiplines

My grade for the essay was a B- I think that it's a very fair grade. I understand I didn't mention some stuff I was supposed too. I think that I did deserve a B- I was expecting something more lower but I guess I did better than I thought.

Young Goodman Questions

1. I think Hawthorne's purpose was to show that sometimes things are not what they seem to be.

2. Brown has lots of faith in her. And she is also very faithful.

3. I think the pink of the ribbon signifies faith or cancer.

4. Everything he witnessed was real, something kind of evil. No one could see it but it was there. He couldn't explain it but it did happen.

5. I think that the old man is the devil. In the story the witch calls him the devil.

6. The staff is a temptation because it shows you somethings and lures you into it. And it showed Brown the truth and made him interested.

7. If Brown had not ventured into the forest he would have faith in his wife and the town shed people. He would because he would have never learned that many of the people he loved were friends with the devil.

Response to young goodman brown

Goodman is a really weird person. He always checks with his faith before he goes out in the dark. He also leaves her (faith is his wife). I feel like sometimes we loose faith and feel like we aren't worth accomplishing something. But we must have faith.

Response to conscience of a hacker

The story it's self is very interesting and good. Hacking isn't a bad thing some people are just so smart that can do anything with their intelligence. And some people think it's bad and I kind of agree a little on that, like if they hack your accounts and stuff. But as long as they don't get into our business it's all good.

Big question

Why do I not know what I'm chasing yet? WHY?

The right to your opinion response

You should always know your rights in this world. Sometimes people may disagree with what you think are your rights but you should stand up for your self.

Notes

Language of "earth on turtles back" - they talk deeper than us, they have a deeper meaning to what they say.

Ancient stories

Earth on turtles back uses the same language as we do. I don't think that the story should be told word per word to be able to tell the story. You can tell the story in a better way and still be the same story. Doesn't have to be word per word, you can make it better in your own words.

Response to Earth on turtles back

Earth on turtles back is a really nice story, even though a little complicated to understand. I liked how the animals all tried to help the women that was falling. And how they had great ideas about finding the bottom of earth and planting seeds so they can go up. The moral of the story is to not give up when someone doubts you.

Response on Richard Corey

I think that Richard Corey is really good and expresses how people can seem really happy when you see them but can be falling apart from the inside.
